Annan Azure
Inspired by Vietnamese wares imported into Japan from the 11th–16th centuries, Annan-style ceramics (安南焼) is one of the most popular shimamono (島物 - island wares) styles embraced for their rustic beauty and natural elegance. Known for their free-flowing cobalt blue designs (shibori) under soft glazes, blue and purple (gosu) and red paintings (akae), these pieces often feature floral and nature motifs, asymmetrical forms, and a warm, understated charm.
