Miyama Tableware - Tableware created through time and human hands.
During the mid-19th century in Ori Inatsu cho, Mizunami-city, Gifu prefecture, the ceramic ware known as "Risen-yaki" was created. This was Japan's first attempt to decorate ceramics using copper plates. In 1977, Miyama was established in this area, continuing the art and tradition that had been developed there. Miyama's tableware is produced using a technique called "casting," which involves shaping porcelain with plaster moulds. This process requires the expertise of many skilled individuals.
Creating beautifully finished material involves enhancing the original whiteness of white porcelain, thereby improving its quality. Miyama's white porcelain is produced by firing porcelain clay, which is rich in glass components, at 1340 degrees Celsius. This high-temperature firing harmonises the clay and glaze, resulting in a vitrified, translucent luster on the surface. This process not only makes the material aesthetically pleasing but also easy to wash and resistant to stains. Through this method, the tableware becomes both functional and beautiful.

Handwashing is recommended to retain the beauty of our products and to make it last longer. For products with gold decoration, heating in a microwave may cause sparks, change of colour or damage to the decoration. Products could become cracked or chipped due to bumping with other plates in a home dishwasher; their decoration could also fade or small scratches could develop on the surface if they are washed in a dishwasher frequently.
